Naming Your Little One
Choosing your child's name is one of the most exciting parts of getting ready for their arrival. Our baby name finder helps you explore names from many origins, discover their meanings, and build a shortlist you can come back to.
Find a name that fits your family
A name carries meaning, identity and a lifetime of use, so it is worth taking your time. Many parents weigh up how unique or familiar a name feels, how it sounds with the family surname, and what it means. There is no perfect formula, and often the right name is simply the one that feels like your child the moment you say it out loud.
How to use the baby name finder

Naming traditions in Malaysian families
Malaysia's mix of cultures gives parents a wonderfully rich set of naming traditions to draw on. In many Malay families, names are chosen for their meaning, frequently with Arabic roots, and joined with bin (son of) or binti (daughter of) followed by the father's name. In Chinese families, a name is often chosen for its auspicious meaning, and some families follow a generation name shared among siblings or cousins. In Indian families, names are commonly meaning-led and may reflect religious or family traditions. Across all of these, honouring a grandparent or relative is a much-loved way to keep a family connection alive.
You can use the origin filter in the tool to explore names from your own heritage, your partner's, or a blend of both.
Narrowing down your shortlist
Once you have a few favourites, say each one aloud with your surname, picture the initials together, and think about the nicknames it might attract. For a fuller checklist of things to weigh up before you decide, see our guide to choosing your child's name.
